Antique Keys for Drawers

I found a miniature chest of drawers for a couple of dollars and I finally got around to giving it a makeover. It was green with fruit on each drawer to start with.

I painted on primer and then added a couple of coats of Martha Stewart's paint in tidewater, which is a really pretty shade of greenish, grayish blue. I knew I wanted to stencil something on the drawers, but I could not decide on a design until I saw clipart of these skeleton keys online. I printed the clipart, enlarged it on my copier and cut out the designs with an exacto knife on freezer paper to make stencils. It was a bit time consuming to cut out all the little keys with all their intricate details, but they came out really cute and now I have antique key stencils for other projects!

I think it goes nicely on the little armoire in my bathroom and will be very useful for holding accessories and/or toiletries.

I am so impressed that you cut stencils for those keys! I can hardly cut a square of fabric straight to line a drawer. Sweet piece, so much beter after!
