Custom Painted Built-in Cabinet

Nancy and I were recently hired by customers at Loot to paint this freshly made, built-in cabinet that sits in a corner of their newly remodeled kitchen.

Before
The cabinet started out with unfinished wood.

After

Our customers chose Versailles Chalk Paint for the exterior and Old White Chalk Paint for the inside of the cabinet.

The customers wanted some dimension, so we distressed all the edges and then applied Annie Sloan clear wax, followed by dark wax.  Instead of applying the dark wax over the entire cabinet, we used a small artist brush to paint the dark wax into all the grooves and edges. We did this same dark wax technique on the painted beadboard on the inside of the built-in.

Our customers were thrilled with their newly painted built-in cabinet!  These two Chalk Paint colors look absolutely perfect against the pale, creamy wall color and also tie in with the warm tones in the hardwood floors.

Versailles Vintage Wall Shelf

This rounded, vintage wall shelf came from an estate sale.  It is Syroco style and not made out of real wood, but it is sturdy and cute.

Before

After
I painted the shelf with the lovely, pale green hue of Versailles Chalk Paint. Then, I distressed all the edges, so the dark, faux wood underneath was visible. Next, I dry brushed Old White Chalk Paint over all the trim and applied clear wax, followed by dark wax, for an antiqued finish.

The shelf is perfectly charming now and looks adorable hung on the wall!

Striped Pedestals

Last weekend, Nancy and I had a booth at Goat Hill Fair.  It was a fabulous event, as usual,  with so many talented vendors and enchanting treasures. We sold Chalk Paint and did a few paint demonstrations at our booth.

I brought these two, old pedestal tables to Goat Hill for one of my paint demos.  I loved the darling shape of these pedestals, but they were a little too beat-up and dirty looking before.

I cleaned the dirt and dust off and then painted them with Versailles Chalk Paint.  They looked  kind of plain, so I added Old White stripes to the top.  This is what they looked like with a fresh coat of paint, before distressing and waxing.

After distressing them all over, I applied Annie Sloan clear wax, followed by a little dark wax to antique them.
