Whitewashed

As I have been fixing up rubbish, I have discovered that many things simply look better with a fresh coat of white paint. I decided, in this post, to show you some of my junk that looks better white.

First, there was this shelf that I found at Saver’s thrift store for $3. It is a very sturdy, well-built oak shelf and I love the wooden applique. The only unappealing part of the shelf was the orange-ish colored finish. It was nothing a bit of white paint could not fix.

This large, green artichoke statue was picked up at an estate sale. I brought it home and covered up the green with some creamy white paint topped with, the usual, Ralph Lauren glaze in smoke color.

My next find, was this tin planter box, also painted green. It looked tolerable in green and I thought about leaving it that color, but I knew it would look better white.

I frequently find small, decorative picture frames at garage sales for a dollar or less. These little frames, once painted, sell out fast at the shop.

I always see them too at the flea market. Next time, I'm going to grab them and spray 'em. What a difference a little paint makes with these. No wonder they are big sellers.
