Feather Pillows and Vintage Linens

I have been hoarding feather pillows for the last couple of years. Everytime I saw an ugly pillow with a feather/down insert, on clearance at Ross, I bought it. I knew that someday I would make new covers for them. Well, I finally did it!

My sister(DI queen) sent me vintage linen fabric (my favorite) and I combined it with a vintage handkerchief of a little boy in a tree surrounded by birds. I backed the pillow in red, blue and white seer sucker fabric from a thrift store.

I bought two vintage, Laura Ashley pillowcases in flawless condition at an estate sale and used one of the pillowcases to make covers for these two pillows. I backed them in the same vintage linen fabric and sewed ruffles on the front.

I made these two damask pillows for my little sister's birthday present. Her beautiful room is done in all pinks and greens. I stenciled fancy fleur de lis on the linen with bright pink fabric paint, added green pom pom trim and backed them in the softest, green, ginham flannel. Kimmy is my most loyal blog reader and she loves her pillows!

Sweet Dreams!

I LOVE the pillows! I imagine you could make a good amount on the ones with handkerchiefs because they are so original.

Thanks! I have a few other vintage handkerchiefs from garage sales that I should make into pillows too. Does Violet like Strawberry Shortcake?

I like your work on feather pillows. The design and coloring are really stunning as they match the colour of your sister room that looks more elegant then the other colours.
