Coco and Duck Egg Dining Table

I picked up this boring, light wood table with a matching bench at a yard sale.  I see this kind of table everywhere, but I decided to buy this particular one because it was so cheap and it came with the bench.

Before
I painted the tops of the table and bench with Coco and the legs with Duck Egg blue Chalk Paint.

After

Because this is a dining table, I applied two coats of clear wax to the tabletop for extra protection.  I distressed and applied a little dark wax along all the edges of the tabletop and bench.

I painted the legs with Coco before painting Duck Egg as the top coat. Then, I heavily distressed the legs, so the Coco base coat and natural wood showed through.  I finished the legs with clear and dark wax for an antiqued finish.

This was an easy way to transform a plain and inexpensive kitchen table and bench into a stylish set.

Thank you for doing this! I'm planning on redoing my kitchen table and this gives me something to show the hubs!

I like the colour and I think it would look nice with black legs too - nice job though!

Love it!...great color choices...a quick question? Do you usually use only one coat of AS paint for your furniture? I just bought some in pure white and am working on 2 bedside tables. I'm really feeling like they need 2 coats, but everything I read says you most likely need only 1...
Thanks, Mariaelena

This looks so much like my kitchen table I redid recently! Great minds... (Well, I used Old White on the legs...but otherwise, the table before was the same.)

Hi Amanda-- I'm new to your blog. I love what you've done with this table. So pretty. The distressing on the legs very complimentary.

I couldn't help while reading this post, to notice the antique Chambers Range in the back ground of the 4th photo in this post.
I guess you are a vendor and sale what you make over?
Is that chambers for sale?
I own one and use it in my kitchen, actually own two...and have the other stored, it was my grandmother's...

I love these stoves.

I love this color!!! Did you distress the table before or after you painted it? And do you do anything prior to painting. I usually have issues when i paint over tables like this. Great job:)

Wow, what a fantastic transformation! It's amazing how a little bit of paint and distressing can completely change the look of a piece of furniture. I especially love the combination of Coco and Duck Egg blue - it's such a fresh and modern color palette.

It's also great to hear that you took the extra step to protect the tabletop with clear wax. This will not only make it more durable but will also give it a beautiful sheen. And the addition of the dark wax along the edges adds a lovely antique touch.

Have you considered doing any inlay work table on your next furniture project? I think a table with some intricate inlay work would be stunning! Keep up the great work, and thanks for sharing your DIY tips with us.
