Chandelier Redo

A few weekends ago, I went to some great estate sales with my friend and found this plain chandelier with so much potential. I paid $15 for the chandelier including the five mini shades. I think it was a great deal considering I have looked for mini shades, for another chandelier I am working on, and I cannot find them for under $5 each.

Mr. Rubbish replaced the old, short chain and rewired the chandelier, so that it can be plugged into a regular outlet. Then, I ordered chandelier crystals online, covered the shades in burlap fabric and finished them off with a little ruffle. That is all it took to dress up this sad, little chandelier!

Chandelier before

.....and after with crystals and burlap

All lit up!

I originally planned on putting it in my kitchen, but I just rented a small space at Blessings Boutique in Pacific Grove, so I decided to put it for sale over there. It will definitely dress up my space!

the brown shaded one reminds me of one my parents had during the '70s while I was growing up

Oh this is so cute! Love the shades. Did you use the burlap for the ruffle? How did you keep it from fraying?

I was knocking around your blog and I am so glad to stumble over this post! I am in the process of redoing my chandy (same style as yours here) but I wasn't sure how to do the shades or how to add some bling. I love what you did and now I have the inspiration I need! Thanks!
